Mark's grandmother, Amelia "Irene" Johnson (1931-2013), dedicated her life to teaching - as a middle school teacher, a mother, a grandmother, and through her involvement with the youth programs at her church, First Baptist Church of Covington, LA. She began teaching 5th grade in 1952 and earned a Masters of Education degree from Southeastern Louisiana University. In 2005, she was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Retired Teachers Association of St. Tammany Parish.
Among many other lessons, Mrs. Johnson taught Mark to "work hard, save your money, and get a great education."
Mark would not be where he is today without her love and guidance.
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry...
